Deputy Manager/ Registered Nurse (RGN) - Elderly Care Home - Sussex

£35,000 per annum - 4 days per week - 7am-4pm

We are actively recruiting for an experienced Deputy Manager who is also a registered Nurse to work in, what can only be described as, one of the best Elderly Care Homes in the UK. Our client aims to exceed expectations of clients (residents) and the Home is built in a gorgeous part of Sussex with woodland views from most windows.

Holding excellent CQC ratings - the Home has around 60 en-suite bedrooms and offers both long term and short stay care - respite and convalescent care.

There are many services on hand including physiotherapy, speech therapy and GP visits. The Home also works with dental professionals, ophthalmic and chiropody clinicians so that all residents' needs are met.

Other services include aromatherapy, reflexology and hairdressing.

The Home is dedicated also to looking after residents' social wellbeing and regularly arranges musician visits, speakers talk about gardening there are reading groups as well as regular visits planned to attend areas of interest.

You will be relied upon to support the Home Manager in all aspects of the Home Management. You will be responsible for monitoring standards of care delivered by qualified and unqualified care staff; by both observation and direct involvement. You will be ensuring that the residents receive quality medical and personal care at all times in line with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

You will be highly involved with implementing policies and procedures and the induction of new personnel. You will prepare the staff rotas and appraise staff.

Naturally you will act as a focal point for contact with residents, their relatives and visitors as well as health and social care professionals involved in their wellbeing.

You will liaise with the Home Manager on operational matters and be able to manage the Home during periods of absence by the Home Manager.

Work with the Home Manager on the marketing of the Home to existing and potential residents and relatives, health and social care professionals and develop links with other care providers and work together.

It is very important that you understand personal responsibilities with regards to Health & Safety at Work Act and that you demonstrate a working knowledge of COSHH assessments.

You will be a registered nurse with current NMC registration and have NVQ 3 or equivalent in care for Care Homes.

We are looking for you to have at least two years experience of working with elderly residents and evidence of up to date training / PREPP for nurses.

It goes without saying that your communications skills; both oral and written will be very good and you will have good I.T. skills.

You will be able to demonstrate the ability to lead staff and act responsibly in the absence of the Manager and have an adaptive and flexible attitude.

You will have a car and a driving licence as the Home is not on a major public transport route.
